Hersant, Lee Each Record Two Points in 5-3 Setback to Lebanon Valley

PITTSTON, PA (February 10, 2024) -- Ethan Hersant and Kent Lee each recorded a point, but the last-stitch efforts of the King's College men's ice hockey team came up shy in a 5-3 setback to the visiting Lebanon Valley College in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play. With the loss at the Revolution Ice Centre on Saturday night, the Monarchs fall to 8-15-0 overall, 7-11-0 in the UCHC, and 4-4-0 in the MAC, while the Flying Dutchmen improved to 6-17-0, 5-13-0 in the UCHC, and 3-3-0 in the MAC.

King's (8-15-0, 7-11-0 UCHC, 4-4-0 MAC) set the tone early in the important conference match up on Saturday night, finding the back of the net 9:50 into the game as Cameron Bauer took a feed from Jayden Baldinelli to put the Monarchs ahead, 1-0, in the first. The visiting Lebanon Valley (6-17-0, 5-13-0 UCHC, 3-3-0 MAC) had a quick response just 2:24 later on an even-strength opportunity. Despite having the edge in shots over the next stretch, the Monarchs let up another score by the Flying Dutchmen with 1:15 left in the first to face a 2-1 deficit heading into the first intermission.

It did not take long into the second for King's to find the equalizer as Alexander Ray and Kent Lee found Ethan Hersant to tie the game, 2-2, 3:34 into the period. Again, Lebanon Valley answered with a goal just shy of three minutes later to go ahead, 3-2. It was a physical game down the stretch with neither team getting into the scoring column as King's trailed, 3-2, with 20 minutes remaining in regulation.

The Monarchs continued to pester the Flying Dutchmen net in the game, finally breaking through as Patrick Nowak netted a shorthanded goal thanks to assists from Lee and Hersant to find the equalizer midway through the third. Lebanon Valley continued to put together a strong weekend as they slotted the game-winning goal with 8:11 left on the game clock. King's picked up the intensity, firing off a flurry of shots against the Flying Dutchmen defense, but the visitors tallied an empty net goal with 1:11 to play to secure the 5-3 win over the Monarchs on Saturday evening at the Revolution Ice Centre.

Hersant totaled two points on a goal and an assist with a team-leading 15 face off wins, while Lee posted two points on two assists with four shots. Erick Borschevsky led the Monarchs with four shots and three blocks, while Ray added 13 face off victories.
