WILLIAMSPORT, PA (Mar. 16, 2024) - - King's College women's tennis earned its first win of the spring season today in a 7-2 match against Penn College. The Monarchs are now 1-5 overall this year.
Ashley Kenia and
Hailey D'Amato teamed up to win the first doubles match of the day 8-4 over the Wildcats. Faith Murray and Georgia Mocensky took the second set of doubles for Penn College over the Monarchs'
Jackie Costello and
Carlee Dellose in a close 8-7 game.
Sarah Stettler and
Emma Rooney picked things back up for King's in the final doubles set of the match with an 8-2 win.
Kenia kicked things off for King's in singles as she won in two sets with scores of 6-2 and 6-3 . D'Amato fell short in her match against the Wildcats' Lauren Peck in two sets at 4-6 and 2-6. Costello won in her second chance against Penn's Murray as she defeated her 6-4 and 6-2. Dellose also won her singles match in two sets with final scores of 7-5 and 6-1.Rooney followed suit winning in two sets at 6-0 and 6-1. Stettler wrapped up the day for the Monarchs in two sets as well finishing 6-2 and 6-1 to give King's the overall win over Penn with a final score of 7-2.
The Monarchs return to their home court at Kirby Park on Thursday Mar. 21 against Clarks Summit University at 3 pm.
