WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 22, 2024) -- In their first appearance at Kirby Park this spring, the King's College men's tennis team defeated the visiting Clarks Summit University, 8-1, on Friday afternoon. The Monarchs improved to 2-6 overall, while the Defenders dropped to 0-1.

In singles play,
Logan Gregory at No. 1 singles,
John Toussaint at No. 2 singles, and
Cody Zheng in No. 6 singles all swept their Defenders' opponents by a pair of 6-0 sets. Both
Patrick Pech at No. 3 singles and
Aidan Temple at No. 4 singles took their victories with a 6-1 victory in the first and a 6-0 win in the second, while
Brendan Turowski at No. 5 singles had a similar outcome with a 6-0 margin in the first set before defeating his foe 6-1 in the second to complete the singles sweep.

Doubles action featured an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles from Toussaint and Gregory, while
Alex Nole and
Zackary Bedwell came out on top in the No. 3 doubles match, 8-5, over Clarks Summit. The Defenders earned their lone win in the match at No. 2 doubles with a tough 8-7 win over
Jacob Nelson and
Amir Samadian.

The Monarchs will be off for the Easter holiday and return to play in their Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) opener on the road at DeSales University on Saturday, April 6.
