CENTER VALLEY, PA (April 6, 2024) -- The King's College men's tennis team battled in their Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) opener, taking four out of the six singles matches, before falling, 5-4, at DeSales University on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Monarchs drop to 2-7 overall and 0-1 in the conference, while the Bulldogs improved to 6-3 with a 1-0 conference mark.

Patrick Pech earned a win by sets of 6-1 and 6-4 at No. 2 singles over Augie Citrone, while
Aidan Temple defeated Brent Holzman by sets of 6-4 and 6-3 at No. 4 singles.
Brendan Turowski was in a battle at No. 5 singles with Reece Stein, winning set one, 7-6 (4), and set two, 6-1.
Cody Zheng earned the final win in the match for the Monarchs at No. 6 singles over Christopher Gomez, taking set one, 6-1, before falling in set two, 6-2. Zheng rallied to take the thrilling final set, 10-6, over Gomez.

Logan Gregory fought through his No. 1 singles match, falling 6-4 in the opening set before fighting his way to a 6-4 win in the second. Gregory ultimately fell to Philip Ritchie in the third, 6-1.
John Toussaint also took his match to three sets at No. 3 singles with Jatin Prabhakar, winning 6-4 in the first before Prabhakar took the second, 6-3, and third, 6-1.

In doubles play, Gregory and Toussaint fell by a score of 8-3 at No. 1 doubles, while Pech and Temple dropped a tough 8-7 (4) decision at No. 2 doubles. Turowski and
Jacob Nelson rounded out doubles play with an 8-4 setback in No. 3 action.

The Monarchs have a quick turn around as they return to play tomorrow morning in a non-conference tri-match with Elizabethtown and Rutgers-Camden. Action begins at Kirby Park tomorrow morning at approximately 9:00 a.m.
