Women's Track and Field Excels at Misericordia Invitational

DALLAS, PA (April 19, 2024) -- Six different Monarchs won their respective events in a great evening for the King's College outdoor track and field team at the Misericordia Invitational on Friday.
 
On the Track
100 Meter Dash

Lara McGlynn ran a time of 14.31 seconds to place third overall. Misericordia's Gianna Iglesias posted the top time in 13.18 seconds.
 
200 Meter Dash
Ava Butcher placed second in a personal best time of 27.94 seconds, while Lara McGlynn took third in 30.62 seconds. Misericordia's Gianna Iglesias won the event in 27.38 seconds.
 
400 Meter Dash
Ava Butcher finished third in the event in a personal-best time of 1:02.69. Grace Morningstar of Misericordia won the event with a time of 1:01.37.
 
1,500 Meter Run
Cecilia Chipriano placed fourth overall in 5:51.60, while Mara Ryan took sixth as she finished in 6:31.55. Misericordia's Madison Kammer claimed the top spot in 4:53.09.
 
4x100 Meter Relay
The King's team of Juliet Brady, Sophia Hahn, Abigail Springer, and Victoria Zultevicz won the event in 52.61 seconds.
 
In the Field
Long Jump

Madelynn Perfilio and Victoria Zultevicz took the top two spots in the event, with Perfilio winning on a mark of 5.20 meters on her fourth attempt and Zultevicz finishing with a jump of 5.05 meters on her first try.
 
Triple Jump
Madelynn Perfilio won her second event in the meet with a jump of 10.39 meters on her sixth and final throw.
 
Pole Vault
Victoria Zultevicz cleared a height of 3.10 meters to claim second, and Liz Porto took third with a personal best mark of 2.95 meters. Madelynn Perfilio finished fourth with a mark of 2.35 meters.
 
Discus Throw
Brandy Varner won her second event in the meet with a mark of 38.47 meters on her first toss, while Cailtin Kirk claimed second with a personal best throw of 35.55 meters. Delaney Hilferty placed third with a personal best toss of 35.45 meters, and Anna Bellucci finished fifth with a mark of 29.98 meters. Rhian Crowley claimed sixth with a throw of 28.81 meters, and Roni McClelland placed seventh with a toss of 28.43 meters. Issy Lebrun was the next finisher in eighth with a mark of 26.42 meters, and Dianna Duncan rounded out the competitors for King's with a personal best throw of 25.10 meters.
 
Hammer Throw
Katey Shoemaker won the hammer throw with a mark of 46.25 meters on her first attempt to lead a successful event for King's. Brandy Varner placed third with a personal best toss of 41.62 meters, while Delaney Hilferty took fourth with a throw of 41.17 meters. Anna Bellucci was next to place, finishing fifth with a mark of 40.86 meters, while Caitlin Kirk took sixth with a toss of 39.06 meters. Rhian Crowley rounded out the Monarchs in the event with a throw of 37.90 meters.
 
Javelin Throw
Katey Shoemaker led a trio of Monarchs as she finished fourth with a toss of 29.79 meters, while Dianna Duncan placed fifth with a personal best mark of 21.24 meters. Issy Lebrun was the final Monarch finisher in sixth with a throw of 19.57 meters. Misericordia's Alexandra Snyder won the event with a mark of 42.10 meters.
 
Shot Put
Brandy Varner topped the field with a mark of 12.21 meters on her third attempt, while Caitlin Kirk placed fourth with a throw of 10.08 meters. Roni McClelland rounded out the trio in fifth with a toss of 10.06 meters.

Several of our Monarchs are also set to compete this weekend at the Paul Donahue Invitational hosted by Widener University. Action is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. in Chester, Pa.
