MADISON, NJ (April 20, 2024) -- In an important Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) match, the King's College men's tennis team battled their way to a 5-4 victory over the host FDU-Florham on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Monarchs jump to 6-8 overall and 2-2 in the MAC Freedom standings, while the Devils fall to 2-9 and 0-4 in the conference.

The Monarchs had a strong showing in their singles matches, as
Logan Gregory defeated Matthew Emery at No. 1 singles by sets of 6-3 and 6-0, while
John Toussaint battled through his match, earning a set one win, 7-5, before falling, 6-3, in the second. Toussaint came out on top with a 6-4 victory in the third at No. 2 singles to Ronald Duval.
Patrick Pech won his No. 3 singles match, rallying from a 7-5 setback in the first to win the next two, 6-3 and 6-4, over Kelvin Liwag.
Cody Zheng earned the final singles victory in No. 6 action over Armin Ali by a pair of 6-0 sets.

Brendan Turowski and
Jacob Nelson teamed up at No. 3 doubles to pick up the important 8-3 win over the Devils pair.

At No. 4 singles,
Aidan Temple fell by sets of 6-1 and 6-3 to Brandon Schwartz, while Turowski dropped a pair of 6-4 decisions at No. 5 singles to Jaden Andresen. Both the No. 1 doubles pair of Gregory and Toussaint fell in a tough 8-4 match, and the No. 2 doubles team of Pech and Temple lost in a gritty 8-6 contest to the FDU-Florham pairs.

The Monarchs have a quick turn around as they return to play tomorrow afternoon. King's travels to Lebanon Valley College for a 1:00 p.m. start in the MAC Freedom match.
