DOYLESTOWN, PA (April 27, 2024) -- The King's College men's lacrosse team ended on a high note as they won their last game of season against the Aggies of Delaware Valley. The Monarchs defeated the Aggies 12-7 on Saturday afternoon, while putting a close to the best season since the pandemic with a 3-11 overall record and went 2-5 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play.

Delaware Valley (5-12, 1-6 MAC Freedom) found the back of the net first on Robert A. Lipinski Field at 14:24. The Monarchs found several opportunities on the offensive end, but the Aggies' goalkeeper Jim Murphy continued to halt their attempts. Delaware Valley went on to score back-to-back goals with a player-up to take a 3-0 lead on King's with 10:39 left of the first quarter. The Monarchs continued to pester their hosts and at 7:25
John Wall (Jr.) netted a goal with the help of
Joe Giannella (Sr.) for the assist. It became a battle from the on, with both adversaries going back-and-forth. The Aggies ultimately added a tally with 0:11 left before the quarter ended. Heading into the second quarter King's were down 4-1.

The Monarchs were composed to start the second quarter and witnessed
Ryan Lynch (So.) find the back of the net at 13:23. King's stayed in enemy territory for three more minutes when Lynch capitalized on a player-up opportunity and added another tally at 11:26. Delaware Valley did not stay quiet and netted a goal with a player-up at 8:37. The Monarchs stayed disciplined and Lynch found the back of the net at 6:07 for a hat trick. Geno Casceillo (Sr.) in the crease for a goal at 5:59. King's continued their push after a timeout, Giannella connected
Ben Spencer (Jr.) to add another tally on the scoreboard. The remainder of the second quarter was scoreless and the Monarchs were ahead 6-5 at halftime.

The third quarter was much like the second as King's put their foot on the gas pedal. Lynch collected his fourth goal of the afternoon at 11:04. Delaware Valley withstood King's attack and went on to find the back of the net at 4:28. The Monarchs came back with two straight tallies by Wall to earn a hat trick at 0:51. At the end of the third quarter, King's were on top with a 9-5 lead.

The Monarchs controlled the fourth and final quarter. King's took advantage of an Aggie turnover caused by
Josh Hilpp (Fy.).
Ryan Barnes (Sr.) went on to score at 13:05 following the turnover by the hosts. Delaware Valley tried to shift the momentum with a goal at 11:37, but the Monarchs responded back with two more tallies that included Spencer and Wall at 9:05. The remaining minutes of the contest was scoreless as King's had every answer for their opponents. At the final buzzer, the Monarchs took a 12-7 victory over the Aggies.

King's finished with 54 shots, 34 ground balls, and went 23-26 in clears. Wall and Lynch had a team-high of four goals and four assists each. Spencer followed with his own two goals and Giannella dished out four assists.
Brendan Dennis (Fy.) fueled the defense with four ground balls and Hilpp had two caused turnovers. Casceillo won 13-19 faceoffs with four ground balls and one goal.
Jackson Campbell produced nine saves in net.

Delaware Valley ended with 32 shots, 35 ground balls, and went 20-28 in clears. Chris Marren had two goals and two assists. Jack Sprinkle earned two goals, one assist, and picked up seven ground balls. On the defensive end, Luke Kelchner had three caused turnovers and Murphy recorded 25 saves for the afternoon.
