NEWTOWN, PA (July 9, 2024) -- The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Executive Director Megan Morrison announced the 2024 Spring Academic All-MAC Teams on Tuesday. Among this season's honorees was King's College outdoor track and field sophomore Katey Shoemaker. She becomes just the eighth Monarch to collect the award in the outdoor season and the first since Cayle Spencer in 2019.
 
The Spring Academic All-MAC teams recognize the top student-athletes both in the classroom and in athletic competition during the 2024 spring semester. The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote on the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight on both academic success and athletic success. A student-athlete must have a spring semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher to be eligible for the award. A total of 118 student-athletes from 11 spring sports, including baseball, softball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's outdoor track and field, and men's volleyball were recognized.

Shoemaker sweeps Academic All-MAC honors as the sophomore also earned a spot on the Winter Academic All-MAC team this season. The Coopersburg, Pa. native had a breakout campaign this season, collecting USTFCCCA All-Region recognition in the hammer throw as well as two silver medals at the 2024 MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the javelin and hammer throw. She also placed seventh in the discus in the championship weekend while also setting a new outdoor program record in the hammer throw at the River Hawk Invitational. An early elementary education major, Shoemaker also earned MAC Academic Honor Roll and CSC Academic All-District accolades this spring.
