Monarchs Fall 1-0 in Tough Road Battle with Washington College

CHETERTOWN, MD (September 18, 2024) -- The King's College men's soccer team fell 1-0 at Washinton College's Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium on Wednesday night. With the loss, the Monarchs move to 3-2-1 with Washington College going 3-1-3 so far this season.

After a slow first 45 minutes of play, the game remained scoreless going into halftime. In the second half, following an offsides call on King's and a foul on Philip Permyashkin in the 54th minute, Washington College's Tshazi Kamau took a shot that met goalkeeper Ben Valkenburg at the bottom center of the net, but Kamau was able to successfully convert on his second shot attempt to make the score1-0.

King's had three shots on goal that came from Permyashkin, Mark Atherton, and Saul Lagunas Jr. Vanvalkenburg posted five saves on the evening.

The Monarchs are back in action next Tuesday, September 24 as they host Susquehanna University at McCarthy Stadium at 7 p.m.
