Â
Neumann (3-5) dominated the opening quarter, but the King's (2-4) defense delivered each time to maintain the scoreless affair heading into the second. The tide turned in the second as the Monarchs managed the pace of play, putting up four shots to zero by the Knights, but the game remained in a 0-0 tie heading into the break.
Â

Ellie Parra found
Emma Clark off a corner opportunity as King's took a 1-0 lead at the end of the third.
Â
The Monarchs maintained that momentum and energy in the fourth as 4:19 into the final period, Clark fed
Rowan Murray to give King's their insurance goal. Neumann picked up the intensity to find an equalizer, but
Emily Bollinger made three saves in the final 10 minutes of play to secure the 2-0 shutout win in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon.
Â
Clark put up a goal and an assist off her lone shot, while Murray scored on a team-high tying two shots.
Shaylee Heffron and Parra also added two shots to lead the attack, while Bollinger finished the shutout victory with five saves in the cage.
Â
Gabriella Cappelli paced the Knights with three shots, all on goal, while Emma Schneider recorded the loss while making three saves.
Â
Despite a slow start, the Monarchs made up the margin in the shot column to record eight shots, including five on frame, while the Knights totaled nine.
Â
