Monarchs Cruise to Third Straight with Win Over Valley Forge

WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 3, 2024) -- The King's College women's volleyball team picked up their third straight win on Tuesday evening with a victory over the University of Valley Forge (0-4). The Monarchs defeated the Patriots 3-0 in McGrane Gymnasium and witnessed 15 different players add tallies to the scoreboard. 

King's controlled the first set of the evening with points made by Bella Salvia (Jr.), Madisyn Heiser-Elsea (So.), Riley McArdle (Fy.), Hannah Swinsburg (Fy.), and Adriana Conforti (Sr.). The Monarchs won 25-2. 

The teams went back-and-forth to start the second set of the match up. King's produced a 19-2 run that included points made by Mia Campanile (Jr.), Morgan Williams (Jr.), Theresa Lynch (Jr.), Swinsburg, and Keely Hoban (Sr.) to take the lead 21-4. The University of Valley Forge answered back with a 4-1, jolt but the Monarchs prevailed with three unanswered points to take the second set, King's  25-8. 

The Patriots started the third and final set with back-to-back aces by Telia Robinson (Sr.). The Monarchs responded back with a 10-1 burst that comprised of kills made by Jessica Menze (Fy.), Ashley Webber (Fy.), and Campanile. The University of Valley Forge had their own 3-1 spurt, but King's maintained their momentum with an 8-1 run to keep their lead at 19-7. The Patriots were not going down without a fight and went point-for-point with their hosts. The Monarchs bested the University of Valley Forge, 25-12, after tallies made by Webber. 

King's finished with 26 kills, 23 assists, 16 aces, 28 digs, and a hitting percentage of .215. Viannce Sinocruz (So.) sparked the offense with 14 of the team's 23 assists. Webber, Campanile, and Salvia had five kills each. Williams collected five aces, while Antonia Leary (Fy.) and McArdle had four. Brynn Giordano (So.) fueled the defense with eight digs. 

The Patriots' witnessed five members add points to the scoreboard. Madeline Oakley (So.) had three assists and Robinson produced 12 digs. 

The Monarchs are back in McGrane Gymnasium on Saturday, September 7th at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. against Rosemont College and Centenary University (NJ). After a short break, the squad will be back home take on Bryn Athyn on Friday, September 13th at 7 p.m.
