WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 8, 2024) -- The King's College women's tennis team opened their 2024 fall campaign on Sunday afternoon in the annual King's Fall Invitational at Kirby Park.

In the No. 1 singles bracket,
Ashley Kenia won her opening match, 7-5 and 6-3, over Ellen Buckley from Penn College before falling in a 6-2 and 6-3 match to Tea Amerise from Wilkes in the quarterfinals. The No. 2 singles bracket saw
Carlee Dellose drop her first match, 6-2 and 6-3, to Misericordia's Gabrielle Chantiloup.

Sarah Stettler competed in the No. 3 singles bracket and earned a win in her first set, 7-6, before falling 7-5 in the second to force the deciding third set. Stettler defeated Kensington Edmond from Wilkes, 10-8, to advance to the quarterfinals. She dropped her match, 6-3 and 6-2, to Penn College's Faith Murray.

At No. 4 singles,
Alexis Turayev was downed by Scranton's Brigid O'Mara, 6-0 and 6-1.
Madeline Sirianni fell by a pair of 6-0 sets to Lycoming's Cassandra Conner, and
Morgan Eiswerth lost by 6-0 sets to Misericordia's Isabella Aniska in the No. 5 singles bracket.

Doubles action saw Kenia and Dellose pair up at No. 1 doubles to get a bye in the opening round before dropping a hard-fought 8-5 decision to the Scranton team in the quarterfinals. The No. 2 doubles pair of Stettler and Turayev won their first round, 8-3, over FDU-Florham before falling by a score of 8-1 to Scranton in the quarterfinals. In the final bracket,
Morgan Eiswerth paired up with Sirianni at No. 3 doubles as they lost by an 8-2 decision to the FDU-Florham team.

King's will be back in action on October 3 as they host Lycoming College at Kirby Park.
