Cadie Lewis led three Monarchs in double figures on Saturday afternoon, but the King's College women's basketball team dropped a 79-56 decision to the visiting Arcadia University in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play. With the setback, the Monarchs fall to 5-8 overall and 1-1 in the conference standings, while the Knights pick up their first MAC Freedom win and improve to 1-1 in the conference and 7-6 overall

Arcadia (7-6, 1-1 MAC Freedom) came out firing early, jumping out to an 8-0 edge with 7:10 to go in the first, but a jumper from
Alli Lindsay sparked a 7-4 run to close within five, 12-7, with 2:05 left in the frame. The Knights closed out the quarter with the next four points to take a 16-7 edge at the end of the first.

King's (5-8, 1-1 MAC Freedom) responded in the second after giving up the first basket of the quarter. Lewis converted a three-point play then fed
Lauren Casey in the post on the next possession to close within six, 18-12, with 7:22 to go before the break. Arcadia tried to pull away, but the Monarchs kept the game within reach before heading into the locker room facing a 42-29 deficit.

Out of the break, the team's traded baskets before a pair of free throws from Lindsay at the 6:51 mark cut the Knights advantage to 14, 49-35. Arcadia hit a hot streak, but the Monarchs continued to battle throughout the third as they entered the final quarter of play trailing 66-46.

The Monarchs began the fourth on a 7-2 run, including three points from Casey, but Arcadia responded with back-to-back scores. King's went 3-for-4 from the charity stripe over the next stretch to attempt a comeback, but Arcadia hit two key threes in the final minutes of the game as they handed King's the 79-56 defeat in the MAC Freedom match up.

Lewis led the team as she finished just shy of a double-double with 14 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, and three steals. Casey added 12 points with two blocks, and Lindsay totaled 10 points and two steals. Additionally,
Gianna Dickson totaled nine points, and
Kathy Shepherd came off the bench to score six.

Hanna Rhoades led the Knights with 21 points, while Scarlett Glasser-Nehls added 20 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Mara Weaver finished with a double-double of 11 points and 11 boards.

King's had 12 assists on their 18 field goals, while the defense forced 12 turnovers resulting in nine steals.

The Monarchs will be back in action on Wednesday, January 15 as they host DeSales University in MAC Freedom play. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in McGrane Gymnasium.
