PITTSTON, PA (JANUARY 14, 2025) – The King's College men's ice hockey team beat the Mustangs of SUNY Morrisville 4-0 on Tuesday night at the Revolution Ice Centre. With the non-conference win, the Monarchs improve to 4-10-0, 2-8-0 in conference play as Morrisville falls to 3-14-0, 0-6-0 SUNYAC. Sophomore goaltender
Diego D'Alessandro got the start in net and notched his first career shutout.
The Mustangs tallied a pair of penalties in the first period as Noah Patrick was called for roughing at 4:20 and for hooking at 13:46.
Kent Lee got the Monarchs going with a goal at 14:13 in the first period off assists from
Teodor Benno Vaage and
Ethan Hersant. Benno Vaage and Hersant assisted in the second goal as well as
Erik Borshchevsky extended the lead to 2-0 with a goal at 16:21.
With another pair of assists for Hersant and Benno Vaage,
Thomas Soucy scored midway through the second period to make the score 3-0. Benno Vaage was called for tripping at 18:03 with time carrying into the third period.
Through the final 20 minutes of regulation,
Zane Burleigh was penalized for hooking at 5:17.
Brendan Krawczyk solidified the win for the Monarchs with a goal at 15:59 off assists from
Jayden Baldinelli and
Bennett Anklewich.
Mauro D'Alessandro closed out the game in the penalty box after being called for roughing at 19:32.
Hersant and
Mauro D'Alessandro each recorded two blocks as
Diego D'Alessandro posted 20 saves in his first career shutout.
The Monarchs return to the Revolution Ice Centre this coming weekend for their series against the Mustangs of Stevenson University. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, January 17 and at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 18.
