PITTSTON, PA (January 25, 2025) – The King's College women's ice hockey team dropped a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) matchup with the Knights of Arcadia University on Saturday afternoon at Revolution Ice Centre. With the 6-1 loss, the Monarchs fall to 4-10-3, 4-7-3 in conference play while the Knights improve to 14-3-1, 12-2-0.
Three penalties occurred in the first 20 minutes of regulation as Ariel Williamson was sent to the box for interference at 3:49,
Brenna Munn for holding at 9:16 and
Aspen Wallin for hitting from behind at 14:00. Neither team was able to capitalize on the power play opportunities, but Morganne Dee scored the first goal of the game for the Knights at 16:16 off assists from Brooklyn Hendrickson and Drew Kuretsky.
42 seconds into the second period, Bridgit Terry extended Arcadia's lead to 2-0 with a goal off assists from Dee and Kianna Saillant. Lucy York was penalized for tripping at 8:39 and then Berklee Hibbard scored at 14:21 with help from Izzy Gershtein and Grace Matthews.
Lucy Beal was sent to the box for tripping at 15:52, resulting in a power play goal for Dee at 17:30, her second of the game, this time assisted by Saillant and Phoebe Roberts. Soon after, at 18:20, Erika Roepke was called for slashing and
Sammi Stead got the Monarchs on the board with help from
Amanda Sokol and Beal at 19:17. Drew Kuretsky was charged with slashing at 19:07 to close out the period and have time carry over. The Knights led 4-1 going into the second intermission.
Midway through the final period, Haylee Kos scored back-to-back goals within 30 seconds of each other, to give the Knights a 6-1 lead. Leah Hatcher and Terry assisted in the first and Ariel Williamson and Karahkwenhawe White assisted in the second. A slew of penalties came throughout the final 10 minutes as Beal was called for tripping at 11:55, Matthews for interference at 15:22 and
Abby Barlocker for body checking at 17:37.
Aspen Wallin and Beal each had three blocks as
Maddie Vaughan went 19-7 in faceoffs. First year goaltender
Will McPherson got the start in net and tallied 38 saves on the afternoon.
The Monarchs are set to celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, February 1 against Hood College. Puck drop is at 3 p.m. at the Revolution Ice Centre.
