Monarchs Come Up Short in Road Loss Against Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (January 27, 2025) -- The King's College wrestling had a close matchup with the Centenary University Cyclones. The Monarchs fell short to the Cyclones 21-25 on Monday night in John. M Reeves Student Recreation Center.
 
Patrick Horvath lost his 125 bout to Jack Thode in a 23-6 technical fall. Nick Germano dominated his 133 matchup with a 13-2 major decision win over Gavin Denise. Jacob Torres was defeated in a 18-2 technical fall by Joseph Innamorato at 141. Brian Hopkins fell to Xavier Pena in 1:59 in the 149 weight class. Shane Kibler competed at 157 and stood victorious over Colin Neal in an 8-2 decision.
 
Alex Ballantyne was dropped by Mark Venson in a 15-0 technical fall at 165. Jacob Hachtmann had a battle at 174 and came out on top with a 7-5 decision victory over Reece Smith. Frankie Theroux pinned Tim Pawlicki in 2:24 at 184. Jake Bobersky lost to Aaron Llanas in a 14-3 major decision at 197. At heavyweight, Richard Fronheiser won in a 18-3 technical fall over Alex Laoudis.
 
King's will be back on the road at Oswego State on Wednesday, January 29th at 7 p.m. The squad will return home on Saturday, February 1st at 1 p.m. to take on York in the Scandlon Auxiliary Gymnasium. The team will then turnaround on Sunday, February 2nd to compete at the Rennie Rodarmel Allstate Invitational at 10:30 a.m.
