Permyashkin Nets Goal as Men’s Soccer Drops Narrow Loss to Gettysburg

WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 14, 2025)—The King's College men's soccer team dropped a non-conference matchup to Gettysburg College on Tuesday night. With the result, the Monarchs fall to 2-7-5 overall while the Bullets, ranked sixth in Region V, improved to 8-4-2 on the season.

The Monarchs struck first in the fifth minute after Jackson Nuttall was fouled in the box, setting up a penalty kick. Philip Permyashkin calmly buried his attempt into the bottom corner to give King's an early 1-0 advantage.

Gettysburg leveled the score in the eighth minute when Cameron Linnington finished a low-running cross from Dylan Capazario. The Bullets then took the lead late in the first half as Diallo Cowan headed in a pass from Linnington in the 38th minute to make it 2-1 heading into the halftime break.

King's pushed forward in the second half in search of an equalizer, earning a pair of corners and creating several late chances, but could not find the back of the net as Gettysburg held on for the 2-1 victory.

The best chance for the Monarchs to knot the game at two came on a shot from Christian Rua in the 76th minute from the top of the box. His strike sailed just high of the target as King's did not record a shot for the final 14 minutes of play.

Goalkeeper Mateo Chavez Paz was a bright spot for the Monarchs, posting a season-high nine saves in his first career start, collecting crucial saves all evening to keep the Monarchs within striking distance.

The Monarchs were outshot 17-5 overall, including 12-1 in shots on goal. Gettysburg held a slight 5-2 edge in corner kicks, while both sides were nearly even in fouls (10-9).
Permyashkin led the King's attack with two shots, including the lone goal. The goal for Permyashkin marks his fifth of the season while Sam Leckner, Costantino Villano and Rua each recorded a shot. Chavez Paz anchored the defense in net with nine saves.

King's men's soccer returns to action on Saturday, October 18, when they travel to face Delaware Valley University in a MAC Freedom matchup scheduled for 1:00 PM.
