DOYLESTOWN, PA (October 18, 2025)—A goal in the 82
nd minute proved to be the difference-maker as the King's College men's soccer team dropped a MAC Freedom contest to Delaware Valley on Saturday afternoon by a score of 2-1. With the loss, the Monarchs fall to 2-8-5 overall and 0-1-2 in conference while the Aggies now stand at 9-3-1 overall with a 1-1-1 MAC Freedom record.
The Aggies struck first in the 28
th minute on a free kick following a foul by a charging
Ben Van Valkenburg in the box. The shot from Delaware Valley got past the diving Van Valkenburg as the Aggies took the lead, 1-0.
King's sent eight shots on goal in the first half, all of which were saved by the Delaware Valley keeper. The best chance to tie the game in the first came off the foot of
Philip Permyashkin in the 32
nd. On a pass from
Evan Egnatovich, Permyashkin split a pair of Aggie defenders before sending a shot at the net. His shot was deflected by a defender and clanged off the post before a Delaware Valley player came in for the clear.
The Monarchs found the equalizer in the 65th minute on a throw-in from
Cameron Jones. His long heave was headed into the air by a Delaware Valley defender and fell to
Parker Gordon, who slipped a beautiful pass to Jackson Nuttal to bury the goal and knot the match at two.
In the 82
nd minute, the Aggies retook the lead, 2-1, in similar fashion to the Monarch goal earlier in the half. A deep throw-in found an Aggie head, and while Van Valkenburg made the save, he was a step too late as the ball had already crossed the goal line.
King's was able to generate one more shot in the final eight minutes which was saved by the Aggie keeper. This capped off a 24-shot game for the Monarchs with 15 on goal. Despite the flurry of shots on goal, King's was unable to tie the game again as Delaware Valley held on for the 2-1 win.
The Monarchs were paced by Nuttall, who scored the team's lone goal on three shots on target. Gordon earned his first collegiate points with an assist on the goal. Egnatovich and Permyashkin were active offensively, combining for 11 total shots, while goalkeeper Van Valkenburg finished with one save in the 90-minute effort.
King's men's soccer returns home to McCarthy Stadium on Wednesday, October 22
nd as they host Misericordia University at 7:00 PM for a MAC Freedom contest.
