Women's Soccer Downed by No. 16 Misericordia

WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 21, 2025)—The King's College women's soccer team suffered a 4-0 setback in MAC Freedom play against No. 16 Misericordia University on Tuesday night. The loss puts the Monarchs at 5-8-2 overall and 1-2-1 in conference while the Cougars improve to 11-3-1 and 4-0-0 in the MAC Freedom.

Misericordia struck early, capitalizing on a corner kick in the fifth minute when the ball deflected off a Monarch defender into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. King's responded with organized defending through the midfield and back line, as goalkeeper Courtney Monard turned away multiple early chances to keep the deficit at one.

The Cougars doubled their advantage in the 30th minute when a pair of back-to-back shots were sent at Monard. The first attempt was stopped by the goalkeeper, but the follow-up found the back of the net, bringing the score to 2-0.

The Monarchs' best first-half opportunity came from Jenna Waldbillig, whose low shot to the right side in the 28th minute forced a save from the Misericordia keeper. Mackenzie Huffer also tested the defense earlier with a shot that drifted wide left.

King's held strong through the early stages of the second half before Misericordia extended its lead in the 54th minute on a finish from Olivia Maniskas. The hosts added their final goal in the 72nd minute following a quick buildup down the right side and a cross into the box.

Misericordia held a 16-2 advantage in shots and an 11-1 margin in corner kicks.

Monard finished her night recording seven saves against 16 total Cougar shots, including several impressive kick-saves in the 30th and 51st minutes. Waldbillig led King's offensively with one shot on goal, while Huffer added the team's other attempt.

King's women's soccer returns to action on Saturday, October 25, when the Monarchs host DeSales University at McCarthy Stadium for a 4:00 PM start.
