FREDERICK, MD (October 25, 2025) – The King's College women's swim team took on Hood College, Messiah, and Widener in a quad-meet at the Huntsinger Aquatics Center on Saturday afternoon. The Monarch's dropped all three of their matchups, losing to Hood 55-121, 13-232 to Messiah and 18-223 against Widener. With the results, the Monarchs now stand at 0-6 overall.
Abigayle Cryan and
Athena Gerlek placed ninth and tenth in the 200-yard freestyle, with Cryan swimming a time of 36:58 while Gerlek touched the wall at 4:18.03.
In the 100-yard backstroke,
Stefany Malaga Nunez placed ninth at 1:16.25.
Aubrey Gowen placed tenth the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:34.09.
Gowen and Gerlek claimed ninth and 12
th respectively in the 50 yard freestyle, as Gowen swam the 50 free in 31.58 and Gerlek in 52.77.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Cryan earned a ninth-place finish with a time of 1:36.47 while Gerlek touched the wall at 1:56.53 to finish 11
th.
Gowen posted a time of 3:20.14 in 200-yard breaststroke to clinch ninth, and Nunez swam a time of 2:52.66 to claim 10
th in the 200-yard backstroke. Nunez capped off her day with a ninth-place finish in the 200-yard IM, recording a time of 2:58.81.
The Monarchs competed in one team event, finishing seventh out of seven groups in the 200-yard freestyle. The squad of Gerlek, Cryan, Gowen, and Nunez touched the wall at 2:32.91.
The Monarchs return to action next week, taking on Hartwick College and Nazareth University at the Sally Griffiths Herbert Aquatics Center in Oneonta, NY on Saturday, November 1, at 1:00pm.
