Women's Volleyball Battles on Senior Day, Falls to Widener and Susquehanna

WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 4, 2025) – The King's College women's volleyball team honored its senior class on Saturday inside McGrane Gymnasium, competing hard in both matches of a home tri but ultimately falling 3–2 to Widener and 3–1 to Susquehanna. The Monarchs move to 11–5 overall on the season.

Match 1: Widener 3, King's 2 (25–16, 19–25, 15–25, 25–19, 15–11)
The Monarchs dropped a five-set heartbreaker to open Senior Day. Widener took the first set 25–16 before King's roared back, hitting .333 in the second and .300 in the third to grab a 2–1 match lead. Emma Bolich and Madisyn Heiser-Elsea were key at the net, while Morgan Williams steadied the back row. Widener evened the match with a 25–19 win in the fourth, then closed the deciding frame 15–11 despite late kills from Bella Salvia and Theresa Lynch.

King's finished with 61 kills and eight blocks. Bolich led the way with 15 kills and two blocks, Heiser-Elsea added 10 kills, and Salvia and Mia Campanile chipped in nine apiece. Lynch contributed seven kills, while Ariela Towsey handed out 47 assists and added 12 digs. Williams led the defense with 25 digs, with Riley McArdle adding 11.

Match 2: Susquehanna 3, King's 1 (25–15, 25–12, 18–25, 25–14)
In the afternoon, King's ran into a strong Susquehanna team. The River Hawks claimed the first two sets, but the Monarchs battled back in the third, hitting .314 behind Lynch and Salvia to extend the match with a 25–18 win. Susquehanna, however, responded with a .350 hitting clip in the fourth to close out the match.

The Monarchs finished with 41 kills and three blocks. Lynch led the attack with 14 kills on .286 hitting, Campanile followed with 12, and Bolich added nine kills with four blocks. Towsey dished out 29 assists, while Williams collected 21 digs to anchor the back row.

The Monarchs (11–5, 1–1 MAC Freedom) return to conference play on Wednesday, October 8, traveling to Misericordia for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
