SCRANTON, PA (October 7, 2025) -- The King's College men's tennis team played its first dual match of the fall on Tuesday afternoon, dropping a 7-0 road decision to Marywood in the Electric City. The Monarchs opened the season at 0-1, while the Pacers jumped to 5-2 on the year.
At the top of the lineup,
Logan Tomkins fell to Gavin Gagliardi in straight 6-0 sets.
Tim John battled to a 7-5, 6-1 loss against Alec Corcoran at No. 2 singles.
William Savner dropped a pair of 6-0 decisions to Zane Smoker at the third flight.
Gavin Hall lost consecutive 6-3 sets to Isaac Carpenter at No. 4 singles.
Amir Samadian opened strong with a 7-5 win at fifth flight before a 6-4 loss forced a third set. Samadian came up just short against Fred Kloss in a 10-7 tiebreaker.
Rounding out singles action, Aidan Brunner defeated
Zackary Bedwell at No. 6, 6-0 and 6-3.
In doubles play, the No. 1 pair of John/Tomkins came up short against Corcoran/Gagliardi in a 6-0 result.
Hall and Samadian lost at the second flight to Carpenter/Smoker, 6-2, while Savner/Bedwell fell in a closely-contested 7-5 decision at No. 3 doubles.
The Monarchs open MAC Freedom play as they host Stevens in the fall finale from Kirby Park, next Saturday at 3:00 PM.
