Barlocker Scores; Tietz Records First Collegiate Point as Women's Ice Hockey Drops Decision at Buffalo State

BUFFALO, NY (November 1, 2025) -- Abby Barlocker netted the second-period goal for the Monarchs as Jerrett Tietz assisted for her first collegiate point in the 5-1 setback to Buffalo State University on the road on Saturday afternoon. With the decision, the Monarchs drop to 0-2-0 overall, while the Bengals improve to 2-0-0.

The King's (0-2-0) held off an early flurry of shots from the Bengals as Hayley Packer, made 12 saves over the first 12:30 of action as part of her 17-save effort in the first 20 minutes. The host Buffalo State (2-0-0) broke through the Monarch defense with 5:24 remaining in the first on an even-strength score before adding another with 2:18 to go as King's faced a 2-0 deficit at the first intermission.

It was a quick third goal for the Bengals just 1:25 into the second period, but King's settled in and got some good opportunities on net throughout the remainder of the frame. With 1:51 to go, Tietz fed Barlocker for the even-strength goal to bring the deficit to just 3-1, but Buffalo State struck one final time in the 19th minute as King's trailed, 4-1, heading into the final period.

Despite Packer's 10 saves in the third and putting some good offensive stretches together, the Monarchs could not stage a comeback while allowing one final goal in the 5-1 setback to wrap up their non-conference series at Buffalo State on Saturday.

Barlocker had three shots in the game while leading with nine face off wins and a block, while Emma Heinrich led the team with four shots. Four other Monarchs had a block in the setback, while Maddie Vaughan added six face off victories and Alexis Jones came out with four. Packer had a solid outing, finishing with 39 saves in net for the Monarchs.

Dakota Carlson scored four of the five tallies for the Bengals, while Keegan Scott posted 17 face off wins. Amelia Knott totaled 11 saves in the complete-game win.

As a team, the Monarchs finished with five blocks and 22 face off wins at the dot.

King's is set to host their Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) opener at the Revolution Ice Centre next weekend, squaring off against cross-town rival Wilkes University. Game one of the series is set for Friday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m.
