Women’s Ice Hockey Falls to No. 14 Wilkes in Home Opener

WILKES-BARRE, PA (November 7, 2025) -- The King's College women's ice hockey team surrendered a 5-0 result to nationally-ranked Wilkes University in their home opener, Friday night at the Revolution Ice Centre. The Monarchs drop to 0-3-0 on the season and open their MAC schedule at 0-1-0. The Colonels improve to 2-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the MAC.

King's netminder Hayley Packer opened the game with four saves within the first 2:46 of action. She received some help in front of her, as Victoria Fleury-Wright, Sammi Stead and Caitlin Dube all blocked shots to keep the contest level at 0-0.

Wilkes got on the board at 4:04 in the first period with an even strength goal to take a 1-0 lead.

King's successfully killed off a two-minute minor penalty, thanks in large part to four saves by the goaltender and a pair of blocked shots by Abby Barlocker and Maddie Vaughan. Packer finished the period with 24 saves, keeping the Monarchs within striking distance.

Wilkes turned up the offensive pressure in the second, tacking on goals at 3:10, 8:24, 8:54 and 9:16 to take a 5-0 lead. Will McPherson - who relieved Packer in goal - put forth a 14-save effort through the remainder of the period. The sophomore netminder turned aside five shots in a 30-second span to prevent the Colonels' lead from expanding any further.

Emma Heinrich and Barlocker generated shots on goal in the final frame, however Wilkes held onto their 5-0 lead throughout regulation to come out with the win.

Barlocker, Heinrich, Amanda Sokol and Vaughan all recorded shots on goal for the Monarchs. Fleury-Wright led the team with four blocked shots, while Barlocker won a team-high nine draws in the faceoff circle. Packer (31) and McPherson (30) combined for 61 saves in the loss.

The Monarchs return to Revolution Ice tomorrow afternoon with a MAC rematch against Wilkes. Faceoff against the Colonels is slated for 3:00 p.m.
