Men's Soccer Celebrates Senior Night Against Arcadia

WILKES-BARRE, PA(November 1, 2025)—On Saturday evening, the King's men's soccer team honored their senior class – Luke Ferre and Philip Permyashkin – ahead of a MAC Freedom matchup with Arcadia University. The Monarchs played to a 1-1 draw with Arcadia in the season finale, moving to 2-11-6 and 0-4-3 in MAC Freedom play while the Knights now stand at 7-5-7 overall and 2-2-3 in conference.

After a back-and-forth opening stretch, the Monarchs broke through in the 28th minute. Evan Egnatovich found space in the box and slotted home his second goal of the year to give King's an early 1-0 advantage.

Arcadia responded just nine minutes later after being awarded a penalty kick on a foul in the box by Ben Van Valkenburg. The Knights converted on the penalty to bring the match level at 1-1 in the 37th minute.

King's generated several promising chances to reclaim the lead before halftime, including efforts from Christian Rua, Aaron Gutkowski, and Egnatovich that tested Arcadia goalkeeper Aden Razukiewicz.

The best chance of the second half for the Monarchs came in the 60th minute on a Rua shot from the right side of the box that forced a diving stop from the Knights keeper.

Rua led the Monarchs with three total shots, including two on goal, while Egnatovich and Gutkowski each had two shots on target. Philip Permyashkin and Saul Lagunas Jr. also contributed with efforts from distance.

Ben Van Valkenburg recorded two saves for King's in his 90 minutes of action. The Monarchs held an 11-7 advantage in total shots, including a 6-3 edge in shots on goal, and a 6-2 lead in corner kicks. The contest was physical throughout, with King's committing 12 fouls and Arcadia 13, and three yellow cards were issued in the match.

King's closes out the 2025 campaign celebrating the contributions of seniors Ferre and Permyashkin, who capped their collegiate careers with strong performances in the season finale.
