POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (November 1, 2025) – The King's College women's volleyball team competed hard on Saturday but came up short in both matches of a tri hosted by Vassar College. The Monarchs fell in a five-set heartbreaker to RIT before dropping the second match to Vassar in straight sets. King's now stands at 16–11 overall on the season.
Match 1: RIT 3, King's 2 (25–13, 20–25, 24–26, 25–23, 15–11)
The Monarchs opened the day with a thrilling battle against RIT that went the distance. After RIT claimed the first set 25–13, King's answered with strong play from Theresa Lynch and Lindsay Arezina to take the next two frames 25–20 and 26–24, building a 2–1 lead. RIT regrouped to edge King's 25–23 in the fourth and used a late run in the fifth to claim the match 15–11.
King's posted 46 kills on a .150 hitting percentage with eight aces and 65 digs. Arezina led the offense with 10 kills, while Lynch, Mia Campanile, and Bella Salvia each added eight. Emma Bolich contributed seven kills and three blocks. Ariela Towsey tallied 21 assists, two aces, and eight digs, while Riley McArdle recorded 15 digs to anchor the defense.
Match 2: Vassar 3, King's 0 (25–20, 25–14, 25–10)
In the later matchup, the Monarchs faced a strong Vassar team that found its rhythm early. King's battled in the opening set behind Salvia and Arezina, but Vassar's offense took control in the final two frames.
King's hit .026 as a team, finishing with 14 kills and two aces. Salvia led the attack with five kills, while Arezina, Bolich, and Campanile added two apiece. Towsey recorded eight assists and an ace, and McArdle collected four digs.
The Monarchs (16–11, 2–4 MAC Freedom) return to MAC Freedom action on Wednesday, November 5, when they travel to face Arcadia at 7:00 PM in Glenside, PA.
