READING, PA (November 14, 2025) -- The King's College women's ice hockey team dropped a 6-0 decision to Alvernia University in the team's first road Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) game of the season, Friday evening at the Body Zone Sports and Wellness Complex. The Monarchs fall to 0-5-0 overall and 0-3-0 in conference action, while the Golden Wolves improves to 4-1-0 and 3-0-0 in the MAC.
Alvernia opened the scoring with a power play marker late in the first period to take a 1-0 lead. The Monarchs weathered heavy pressure early, as goaltender
Hayley Packer turned aside 17 shots in the first frame, including multiple saves during two penalty kills. Blocks from
Abby Barlocker and
Emma Heinrich helped keep the deficit at one heading into the first intermission.
The Golden Wolves added two more goals in the second period to extend their advantage to 3-0. King's generated chances from
Sammi Stead and
Brenna Munn, while Packer made 24 saves in the frame. The Monarchs faced a lengthy 5-on-3 penalty kill, with Barlocker and
Jerrett Tietz coming up with key blocks to limit damage.
Alvernia tacked on three goals in the third period to seal the final margin. The Monarchs pushed for an offensive breakthrough with shots from
Maddie Vaughan, Heinrich, and Barlocker, but could not solve the Alvernia netminder.
Stead and Tietz led the offense with a pair of shots each. Barlocker blocked three shots while
Kiana Dizon and Vaughan won three draws at the dot. Defensively, the Monarchs recorded eight blocked shots and killed off four of the five Alvernia power plays.
Packer finished with 44 saves before
Mylei Chowdhry entered in relief, adding five stops over the final 10:20 of action.
King's returns to action tomorrow afternoon for a rematch with the Golden Wolves of Alvernia. Puck drop from the Body Zone Sports and Wellness Complex is set for 1:00 p.m.
