Late Run Pushes Muhlenberg Past Men’s Basketball

ALLENTOWN, PA (November 19, 2025)—The King's men's basketball team dropped a road contest to Muhlenberg College on Wednesday night by a score of 65-61. The loss puts the Monarchs at 1-4 this season while the Mules improve to 3-2 overall.

King's started the game with strong defense, turning Muhlenberg over five times in their first six possessions and jumping out to a 9-3 lead during the opening 3:30.

The Monarchs held an eight-point lead over the next four minutes and extended the lead to double digits with offensive rebounds and baskets from Jake Karnish and Ray Gooley.

King's started 10-of-17 from the field and led 30-17 with 8:47 to go in the first half. The Mules responded with a 7-0 run over the next 2:45, cutting the Monarch lead to six at 30-26 and forcing a King's timeout with 6:05 to play in the half.

The teams traded baskets over the next five minutes before the Monarchs closed out the half on a 6-2 run, highlighted by two tough takes from Ben Malley as King's took a ten-point, 40-30 lead into the locker room.
Jaden Hall led the Monarchs offensively in the first half with nine points on 3-of-4 shooting, one rebound and one steal.

The Mules opened the second half on a 12-5 run over the first four minutes, cutting the deficit to three as the Monarchs led 45-52 with 16:01 left to play.

After trading baskets over the next eight minutes, Devin Kimmick found Matt Christian for a big three off the left wing to put the Monarchs back up six, 55-49, with 7:52 left in regulation.

The following six minutes consisted of both teams trading baskets, as the Mules brought the King's advantage to just two with 1:58 to go and tied the game at 61-61 with 1:10 to play.

With 30 seconds left on the clock, the Mules took their first lead of the game at 63-61, came up with two defensive stops due to a Karnish steal, and hit the ensuing two free throws to close out a 65-61 win over the Monarchs.

King's and Muhlenberg were evenly matched on the stat sheet as both teams shot north of 40% from the field as a team, with the Mules holding a slight edge. The Monarchs won the rebound battle 40-31 and led by as many as 11 but suffered eight second-half turnovers as the Mules came from behind.

Karnish headlined a well-balanced scoring attack for the Monarchs with a double-double on 10 points and 12 rebounds with six assists. Jaden Hall led the Monarchs in scoring with 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting while Kimmick, Christian and Ben Rodner-Tims each added 10 points.

King's men's basketball returns to McGrane Gymnasium for the first time this season, hosting SUNY Oneonta on Saturday, November 22, with tipoff set for 3:00 p.m.
