Wrestling Goes 2-2 at Comet Duals

OLIVET, MI (November 22, 2025)—The King's College wrestling team traveled to Olivet, MI and the Cutler Event Center for Saturday's Comet Duals. The Monarchs split the day, going 2-2 in matchups against Heidelberg (W, 23-20), Ohio Northern (L, 6-49), Wilmington (W,43-4) and Mount Union (L,16-24).

Vs. Heidelberg University (OH), W – 23-20
In the first match of the dual, Sid O'Donnell fell in a decision to Lee Woods at 125. Cole Anderson picked up a decision win for the Monarchs at 133, taking down Mythias Stucky by a score of 8-5. In the 141 lb. weight class, Jacob Torres dropped a 7-5 decision against Maddox Crade as teammate Brian Hopkins also suffered a decision setback to Michael Hatgas at 149. MJ Turi got King's back on track with a tech. fall victory against Sam Smith early in the third round.

At 165 and 174, the Student Princes picked up wins via tech. fall and fall to answer for Heidelberg. After Jake Bobersky's win by forfeit, Connor Wrobleski delivered a huge pin over Kheliei Tillman in the 197 lb. weight class. In his first match of the season, sophomore Jacob Lance earned a 12-3 major decision win against Noah Robinson as the Monarchs came away with the 23-20 victory.

Vs. Ohio Northern University, L – 6-49

At 125, Sid O'Donnell recorded his first pin of the season, defeating Will Miller with 39 seconds to spare in the first round. In the 133-weight class, Christian Borges was pinned by Kurt Mokros in 2:50. The Polar Bears kept up the pace, earning back-to-back tech. falls  at 141 and 149 including Aaron Turner, who is currently ranked sixth in region IV at 149. Sean Hazlett and Jordan Bentley suffered first round defeats at 157 and 165 by fall to Londen Murphy and Ben Hegler, who are both ranked in Region IV.

At 174, Ohio Northern's Anthony Lahoski defeated Alex Ballantyne by technical fall in the third round. Jake Bobersky fell in a major decision to regionally ranked AJ Locke, while the Monarchs forfeited the 197 lb. bout. In the final match of the dual, Sam Moffet was pinned by Troy Dyszkiewicz in the first round.

Vs. Wilmington College, W – 43-4

In a bounce-back dual for the Monarchs, Sid O'Donnell put things on the right track with a 20-2 tech. fall victory in the opening matchup at 125. Cole Anderson followed that up with a tech. fall of his own against Braxton Ankrom in the second round. At 141, Jacob Torres posted his first win of the season with a 6-0 decision against Zander Ward. In the 149-weight class, Shane Kibler returned to action with a 25-10 technical fall victory against Asher LeBeau. Regionally ranked Thane McCoy picked up the lone win for the Quakers at 157 in an 11-2 major decision over MJ Turi.

Mason Mordan recorded his first win of the day, pinning Quintez Pratt late in the third period. Jake Bobersky took down Hunter Randall in a 14-3 major decision and Sam Moffet defeated Darnell Johnson 4-2 by decision, while Wilmington forfeited at 174 and 197.

Vs. University of Mount Union (OH), L – 16-24

In the match at 125, regionally ranked Mason Taylor picked up a win for the Purple Raiders by tech. fall against O'Donnell. At 133, Cole Anderson came up with a massive win, taking down nationally 15th ranked Nolan Frye, 2-1, in a sudden victory. Torres kept the ball rolling with a 12-0 major decision win against Bryce Russell. At 149, Kibler suffered his first loss of the season to Mount Union's Jack DeBoe, 16-9 by decision. At 157, MJ Turi built off of takedowns in the second and third period to defeat Jamie Lemon Norris 8-5 by decision.

At 165, Mason Mordan dropped a close matchup in a 2-1 decision against Aiden Stecker. Mount Union's Jake Starkey, currently ranked 5th in Region IV at 174, took down Jacob Hachtmann in a tightly contested 7-6 decision. After a major decision win at 184 for the Purple Raiders, Connor Wrobleski got six points back for the Monarchs, pinning Brayden McFetridge in 1:13. To close out the dual, regionally ranked Steven Marra pinned Moffet in 1:51.

The Monarchs return to the mat on Friday, December 5 for the Messiah Petrofes Invitational starting at 9:00 a.m.
