Wrestling Picks Up Win Over Keystone at King’s Duals

WILKES-BARRE, PA (December 13, 2025)— The King's College wrestling team hosted the King's Duals on Saturday at McGrane Gymnasium alongside six other programs. The Monarchs finished the day 1–2, falling to Alfred State and NJCU while defeating Keystone College. The results put King's at 3-5 overall in the 2025-2026 season.

Alfred State – 37, King's – 16

At 125, Horvath started off the day strong for the Monarchs, coming away with an 18-3 technical fall victory over Jordan Busby.

In the 133 lb. weight class, Mason Drew pinned Cole Anderson in the second round to put the Pioneers on the board.

Jacob Torres competed for King's at 141 and fell in a highly contested 12-9 decision against Aflred State's Richard Morales.

At 149, Brian Hopkins lost to Kyle Meyer by fall at 2:34.  MJ Turi answered with a pin of his own, taking down Charles Parker Trento early in the third period.

Jordan Bentley represented King's at 165 and fought hard in a 9-1 major decision loss to Brandon DellaPia.

In the 174 lb. weight class, George Racz came away with a late third period pin against Jacob Hachtmann, putting six more points on the board for Alfred State.

At 184 lbs. Jake Bobersky dropped his matchup to regionally Sean Melanfant by fall at 3:55.

Connor Wrobleski earned a 19-3 technical fall win against Aaron Johnson before Jacob Lance lost to Colton Hai by fall in the first round to close out the first dual of the day.
 
King's – 48, Keystone - 6

Following a forfeit at 125, Anderson gifted the Monarchs another six points as he defeated Tanner Pringle by fall just 1:15 into the match.

With another forfeit at 141, Brian Hopkins delivered a comeback win, pinning Ralph Nieves at 149 after trailing 10-3 in the first round.

Turi saw a similar result in his second match, defeating Michael Palinkas after pinning him midway through the first period.

Bentley picked up his third victory by fall of the season at 165, taking down Keystone's Codi Bomboy at 1:38.

Another forfeit from the Giants at 174 brought up Jake Bobersky, who pinned Mariano Monacelli in the second period after getting out to a 10-0 lead.

At 197, Wrobleski dropped his matchup to Keystone's regionally ranked Nero Bono with a pin at 4:13. The heavyweight bout was deemed no contest, resulting in a 48-6 final score in favor of the Monarchs.
 
NJCU – 27, King's – 21

In the final dual of the day, Patrick Horvath faced a tough matchup at 125 with regionally ranked Dominic Terracciano. Terracciano came away with a 19-3 win by technical fall early in the third period.

Christian Borges faced Region II's top-ranked wrestler, Lucas Torre, at 133 pounds, as Torre secured a 17–2 technical fall for the Gothic Knights.

At 141, Torres suffered a loss by tech. fall to NJCU's Dean Constantino by a score of 24-6 at the 4:12 mark.

Hopkins nearly came up with a major upset against regionally third-ranked Zachary Vera but came up just short in a 5-3 decision loss at 149.

At 157 pounds, Turi earned his third win of the day with a 19–4 technical fall over NJCU's Andy Beras, adding five points for the Monarchs.

After a loss by fall at 165, Hachtmann brought six points back to King's at 174 lbs. with a pin of Diego Viera just two minutes into the first period.

Bobersky kept the pins coming with a win by fall at 184 over William Chrysler at the 2:21 mark.

At 197 Luke Palladino dropped a bout technical fall to NJCU's Simeon Hunte by a score of 23-7 late in the third period.

Sam Moffett closed out the day for the Monarchs on a high note, taking down Walter Thomas in a 9-0 major decision victory.

Extra Countable Matches:

Sid O'Donnell – 125
Following a major decision loss to Alvernia's Ethan Staples, O'Donnell rebounded with a 16–4 major decision victory against Albright's Jaiden Woodrum.

Freddy Steigerwalt – 125
In his first matchup of the day, Steigerwalt was pinned by Albright's Woodrum at 2:11 after trailing 5-2. The first year closed out his day with a loss by a fall to Alvernia's Rocco Monteferrante in the first round.

Christian Borges – 133
Borges fought hard in his lone extra match of the day, coming up short in a 7–3 decision against Albright's Marquez Thomas.

Angel Avalos – 141
The sophomore enjoyed a 2-0 performance in his individual matches, both coming against Arcadia wrestlers. He first defeated Malik Barkor, 8-5, by decision and followed that with a pin of Josiah Thomas late in the second period.

Sean Hazlett – 157
Hazlet competed in one extra match on Saturday, losing by fall to Albright's Calvin Myers after trailing 11-8 at the 5:30 mark.

Conor Knight – 157
The first year suffered a setback in his lone bout on Saturday, losing by fall to Alfred State's Charles Parker Trento at the 2:16 mark.

Alex Ballantyne – 174
Ballantyne went 2-0 on Saturday, defeating Albright's Rene Dorelus 16-3 by major decision and pinning Alvernia's Jesse Rappazzo midway through the second round of a heated, 14-13 bout.

Michael Zaunczkowski – 174
Zaunczkowski finished Saturday undefeated, picking up two wins over Albright wrestlers. He opened with a 10–6 decision over Deacon Warren and followed with a 6–3 decision against Rene
Dorelus.

Reilly Kirkutis – 184
After building an 11–4 lead for most of the bout, Kirkutis earned a win by disqualification over Alvernia's Ryad Belguet with one second remaining.

Sam Moffett – 285
Despite earning a win for the Monarchs in their dual, Moffet suffered a loss to Albright's Daunte Morrison by fall at 3:59 in the second round.

King's wrestling returns to the mat on Friday, December 19th as they head down the street to Wilkes University for the Wilkes Open at 9:30 a.m.
