Women’s Indoor Track and Field Opens Season at Alvernia

READING, PA (December 6, 2025) – The King's College women's indoor track and field team opened the season at the Alvernia University Rust Buster invitational on Saturday Afternoon.

In the field events, Abigail Thompson and Dani Rimsky tied for third in the high jump at 1.40m.

A trio of Monarchs finished first, second and third overall in the shot put, as Brandy Varner topped the event with a toss of 12.65m. Caitlin Kirk claimed second with a throw of 10.94m and Nayeli Moliere finished behind her with a throw of 10.73m.

The Monarch throwers continued their dominance with another trio finishing in the top three in the weight throw. Katey Shoemaker earned first with a lob of 15.16m, while Varner
finished second with a toss of 14.44m, and Kirk posting a personal best throw of 14.26 to be crowned third.

On the track, Ali Butcher placed fifth in the 60-meter sprint with a time of 8.38, while teammates Erin McClean and Timara Klotz earned seventh and eight respectively at 8.63 and 8.72.

In the 200-meter dash, Butcher finished fourth overall while simultaneously winning her heat with a time of 28.12 to wrap up the day.

The Monarchs return to action on January 17, where they will compete at the Susquehanna Invitational hosted by Susquehanna University at the Robert Estill I. Field House.
