DALLAS, PA (February 22, 2025) -- The King's College men's basketball team battled through 40 minutes, but a tough second half saw the Monarchs fall, 73-52, on the road at Misericordia University on Saturday afternoon. With the loss in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) contest, the Monarchs finish the regular season 11-12 overall and 6-8 in the standings, while the Cougars improve to 15-10 with an 8-6 conference mark.

King's (11-12, 6-8 MAC Freedom) jumped out to an early 7-0 lead behind four points from
Garrett Burys, but Misericordia (15-10, 8-6 MAC Freedom) battled back to get their first lead of the night, 15-14, with 10:02 to go in the first half. After two ties and two lead changes, the Cougars opened the scoring with a 12-0 run to hold a 30-21 edge over the Monarchs with 3:20 left in the frame.
Chris Patton hit a pair from the free throw line with 3:02 left, and both teams went cold down the stretch as King's faced a 30-23 halftime deficit.

The Monarchs started the second half strong, scoring the first two buckets on a layup from Burys and a layup from
Ben Rodner-Tims, but the Cougars responded with the next seven to build a double-digit advantage. King's kept the game within reach, pulling within thee, 43-40, on a 2-for-2 trip to the charity stripe from Patton, with 12:47 on the clock. The teams traded baskets as the Misericordia lead went back up to double digits, but facing a 62-49 deficit with 6:29 to play, the Monarchs struggled in the next stretch as the Cougars got hot from beyond the arc. A triple from Dareen Yost with 2:25 was the final basket in the game as the Monarchs dropped the 73-52 decision on Saturday afternoon on the road.

Burys paced the offense with 16 points on 8-for-12 shooting with nine rebounds, while Patton added 12 points, six boards, two steals, and a block.
Devin Kimmick added seven points, five rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal.

Matt Prociak led the Cougars with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Derek Smith came off the bench to add 15 points.

King's shot 32.8% from the floor, while Misericordia finished the game shooting 35.1%.The Monarchs had the edge in points in the paint for the game, 26-20, over the Cougars.
