WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 30, 2025) -- The King's College women's tennis team picked up a win in their spring home opener, defeating cross-town rival Wilkes University, 4-3, at Kirby Park on Sunday morning. The win moves the Monarchs to 2-7 overall, while the Colonels fell to 7-2. The women also snap an 18-match skid against the Colonels.

Ashley Kenia won at No. 2 singles over Julia Spaeth by a pair of 6-0 decisions.
Hailey D'Amato gritted out a three-set win at No. 3 singles, falling 7-5 in the first before winning 6-2 and 6-1 in the next two over Kensington Edmond. Â At No. 4 singles,
Carlee Dellose won by scores of 7-5 and 6-4 over Isabel Schreffler.
Emma Rooney won a three-set thriller over Ava Vacula at No. 6 singles, winning the first 6-4, falling 6-4 in the second, and taking the third 6-4.

Kiki Nweje and Dellose picked up the lone win in doubles play, topping the No. 2 doubles match 6-1.

At No. 1 singles Nweje fell, 6-2 and 6-0, to Tea Amerise, while
Sarah Stettler fell in a three-set match at No. 5 singles, dropping the first 6-4 before taking the second 6-0 and eventually falling 6-4 in the third. Kenia and D'Amato lost their No. 1 doubles match, 6-4, and Rooney and Stettler fell, 6-2, at No. 3 doubles.

The women will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they host DeSales University in their MAC Freedom opener at Kirby Park. Action is set to begin at noon.
