Monarchs Outlast Bloodhounds in Non-Conference Baseball Contest

WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 2, 2025) – The King's College baseball team beat the Bloodhounds of John Jay College 8-4 on Wednesday afternoon at Lipo Field. With the non-conference win, the Monarchs improve to 8-16 overall and remain 1-8 in MAC Freedom play while the Bloodhounds fall to 8-9, 2-2 CUNYAC.

In the third-ever meeting between the two programs, John Jay struck first with a run in the third inning. In the bottom of the fourth, the Monarchs found their offensive spark as Jacob Sutton hit a single to right field to put Zach Jenkins on second and bring Owen Kosar home to score. Owen Ness singled through the right side to push Sutton to second and Jenkins home. Troy Neff hit a triple to left field to notch two RBIs and give King's the 4-1 lead after four.

In the sixth, Wanamaker hit a single down the third base line to score Ness and Sutton. Zach Day went on to hit a triple to right field, bringing Wanamaker home and extending the lead to 7-1.

The Bloodhounds found some momentum in the seventh and scored three runs, but the Monarchs tacked on one more run in the eighth inning to seal the 8-4 win.

Pitcher Justin Hoadley (1-1) got the win on the mound with one strikeout in one inning pitched, handing Danny Opramolla (0-2) the loss. Wanamaker led the way with two runs, two its and two RBIs Sutton and Ness' two runs, one hit and one RBI each.

The Monarchs head to Doylestown for a MAC Freedom match up with the Aggies of Delaware Valley University on Friday, April 4 at 3:30 p.m. at Frank Wolfgang Field.
