Successful Senior Saturday for Men's Lacrosse

WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 26, 2025) -- The King's College men's lacrosse team had a successful senior Saturday afternoon as they defeated Delaware Valley 15-6.
 
Matt Dellapi won the opening faceoff to push the Monarchs (2-13, 1-6 MAC Freedom) into enemy territory. The game was scoreless for the first seven minutes as the two Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom opponents traded shots. Ryan Dolphin created a caused turnover and later found Ryan Lynch to have the first goal in McCarthy Stadium at 7:34. King's pushed on with a 3-0 run that included John Wall, Matt Dellapi, and Ben Spencer with 5:42 left of the first quarter. The two teams battled it out as time went on, but the Monarch defense prevailed. At the end of the first, King's was ahead 4-0.
 
The Aggies' (4-12, 0-7 MAC Freedom) defense was able to slow the Monarchs down in the second quarter, but King's continued to pester their visitors. At 9:21, Ryan Lynch took advantage of a man-up opportunity and added another tally to the scoreboard. From then on, the Monarchs had several shots on goal, but the Delaware Valley defense prevailed. After a successful clear, the Aggies found the back of the net at 1:06. Heading into halftime, King's had a 5-1 lead.
 
Following the intermission, Delaware Valley wasted no time on a man-up opportunity and netted a goal at 14:28. After multiple saves by Ryan Rickards and caused turnovers by the Monarchs, the squad posted up in Aggie territory. King's then created seven unanswered points by Wall, Ryan Lynch, and Luke Babilon to produce a 10-goal cushion at the end of the third quarter.
 
The Monarchs maintained their momentum as Nate Hullinger scored his first goal of the season on a man-up opportunity at 12:27. Delaware Valley had a late 4-2 burst, but time was running out. At the end of the fourth quarter, the Monarchs won 15-6.
 
 
King's created a new game record for ground balls with 73. The team added 61 shots, 11 caused turnovers, 14-18 clears, 3-5 man-up opportunities, and 19-24 faceoffs. Ryan Lynch fueled the offense with seven points on six goals and an assist. Wall followed with three goals and 11 ground balls. Dellapi went 23-15 in faceoffs, collected nine ground balls, and had a goal. Dolphin pushed the defense with three caused turnovers, six ground balls, and an assist. In goal, Ryan Rickards had four saves and four ground balls.
 
Delaware Valley's Kieran Schneider produced three goals, two assists, and 10 ground balls. Ryley Savering had two goals, an assist, and seven ground balls. Robert McCarnan sparked the defense with five caused turnovers and four ground balls. Daniel Hickling had 21 saves with eight ground balls between the posts.
