WILKES-BARRE, PA (January 10, 2025) – The King's College women's swim team returned to action after winter break, coming up short in a 100-63 loss to St. Joseph's Long Island on Saturday at the Scandlon Natatorium. The loss puts the Monarchs at 2-13 overall while the Golden Eagles move to 6-4 on the season.
In the group events, the squad of
Carla Hidalgo,
Aubrey Gowen,
Mackenzie Huffer and
Abigayle Cryan started off the meet by earning second in the 200-yard medley relay by recording a season best time of 2:20.82.
In the individual events, Gowen placed second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:27.19. Huffer won the 50-yard freestyle by swimming a time of 28.53 while teammate Hidalgo finished behind Huffer, touching the block at 28.77.
In the 200-yard IM, Huffer earned second as she swam to the wall in 2:42.28 while Hidalgo was crowned victorious in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:12.03. Gowen and Cryan placed second and fourth respectively in the 100-yard freestyle as Gowen swam a season best time of 1:11.73 and Cryan stopped the clock at 1:31.02.
Hidalgo continued her dominance with her second win of the day in the 100-yard breaststroke, posting a time of 1:24.09.
The Monarchs return to action at home on Wednesday January 14th at the Scandlon Natatorium to face off against the Devils of FDU-Florham at 1:00 p.m.
