WILKES-BARRE, PA (January 24, 2026) — The King's College women's basketball team made a late run but ultimately fell to Arcadia University, 53–46, in a MAC Freedom matchup on Saturday afternoon inside McGrane Gymnasium.
Arcadia held a narrow edge throughout the opening quarter, taking a 15–12 lead after one. The Monarchs responded with their best stretch of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Knights 13–6 to briefly take the lead and carry a 25–21 advantage into halftime.
The momentum shifted back in the third quarter, as Arcadia regained control by holding King's to just nine points while building a 36–34 lead heading into the final period. The Knights continued to apply pressure in the fourth, extending their lead to as many as 11 points with under five minutes remaining.
King's mounted a late comeback attempt, tightening defensively and cutting the deficit to just four points in the final minute. The Monarchs had multiple opportunities to make it a one-possession game, but Arcadia held on at the free-throw line to escape with the seven-point victory.
Lauren Casey led King's with 17 points and tied her career-high of 17 rebounds for a double-double performance. Cadie Lewis added 11 points, and seven rebounds, while Irelynd Long chipped in 11 points as well. Gianna Dickson contributed three points, a block, and a steal, and Claire Aufiero added four rebounds and three assists in the effort.
As a team, King's forced 11 turnovers and won the rebounding battle 44–34, but struggled from the field, shooting 30.0 percent overall and 15.8 percent from three-point range.
Despite the loss, the Monarchs showed resilience with a strong second quarter and a late fourth-quarter push that brought the game down to the final possessions. The Monarchs will look to bounce back as they continue conference play on Wednesday night, when DeSales comes to town.
