BRISTOL, RI (January 3, 2025)-- The King's College wrestling team worked a split at the RWU Duals on Saturday, taking down New England College, 38-13, before falling to Roger Williams in the second dual of the day. The results move the Monarchs overall record to 4-6 on the season.
King's – 38, New England College – 13
At 125,
Patrick Horvath picked up a forfeit win to give the Monarchs an early lead. King's added six more points at 133 as
Cole Anderson also earned a forfeit victory.
Jacob Torres competed for King's at 141 and dropped a 15–4 major decision to Patrick Hughes.At 149,
Shane Kibler defeated Michael Follo, 11-3, by major decision.
At 157,
Conor Knight followed with a dominant 16–0 technical fall against Tanner Kamuda.
The Monarchs responded at 165 as
Mason Mordan earned a win by fall over Dominic DeMaio to swing momentum back in King's favor.
In the 174 lb. weight class,
Michael Zaunczkowski dropped an 18–2 technical fall decision to regionally-ranked Joseph Bolduc.
King's answered again at 184, where
Jake Bobersky earned a fall over Trevion Atallah.
Luke Palladino added more points for the Monarchs at 197 with an 18–0 technical fall win against Brayden Sohn.
The dual concluded at heavyweight, where Sam Moffet fell by major decision, 15–2, to Brandon Lavasta.
Roger Williams – 36, King's – 5
At 125, Kenna Gioffre edged Horvath in a tight 12–10 decision. Anderson followed with a solid showing at 133 in a 14–8 decision win over Tyler Lanci.
Roger Williams extended its lead at 141 as Shaun McLaughlin pinned Torres. At 149 pounds, Kibler finished Saturday undefeated with a 7–4 decision over Nick Fatone.
At 157 lbs., Knight fought hard but fell to Tommy Iasello by a 12–5 decision, as Roger Williams maintained control of the dual. At 165 lbs., Matt Gish edged out Mordan in a tense sudden victory.
In the 174 lb. weight class, Hachtmann fell to regionally-ranked Tyrell Newmann defeated in a hard fought 5–2 decision.

Jake Bobersky at 184, Eric Power earned a fall over Palladino at 197, and regionally-ranked Jayden Toppan secured a pin against Moffet at heavyweight.
The Monarchs return to the mat in two weeks as they gear up for the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships, hosted by Messiah University on Saturday, January 17 starting at 9:00 a.m.
