YORK, PA(January 31, 2026)—The King's College wrestling team came away with a big victory over No. 21 York College (Open Mat Rankings) on Saturday afternoon in Charles Wolf Gymnasium by a score of 26-15. With the win, the Monarchs improve to 5-7 overall this season while the Spartans drop to 7-5 overall.
At 125,
Patrick Horvath came up short against regionally ranked Jacob DelVecchio in a hard fought 6-0 decision loss.
The 133‑lb matchup saw
Cole Anderson put together a strong effort before dropping a 4-0 decision to regional No. 4 Vincent Paolucci.
Jacob Torres put King's on the board at 141 and evened the score at 6-6 with his victory by fall at 3:45 against regionally ranked Jake Grzybek.
The win by Torres ignited the Monarchs as
Shane Kibler followed the 141 lb. bout with a 16-4 major decision victory over Jack Doran at 149.
In the bout at 157 lbs.
MJ Turi edged out a highly contested 7-6 decision win against York's Frank Gulli.
Recent addition
Kennedy Thomas continued his strong start, improving to 2-0 with a win by fall at 6:38 over Mason Skinner at 165 lbs.
At 174 lbs.,
Jacob Hachtmann took home a 13-4 major decision in dominant fashion against Mark Forry.
Jake Bobersky kept the ball rolling for King's as he held off Devon O'Dell in a high-scoring 12-10 decision.
At 197 lbs.,
Luke Palladino drew a tough assignment against Josh Stahl, the nation's No. 2 wrestler, with Stahl securing the fall in the opening period.
In the final bout of the day at 285,
Sam Moffett pushed David Pierson to the brink, falling 2-0 by decision.
Despite York's recent wins over multiple top‑25 programs (No. 22 Ithaca & No. 12 Washington and Lee), the Monarchs rose to the challenge and delivered a convincing victory over the Spartans.
King's wrestling is back in action on Sunday, February 1, as the Monarchs head to Williamsport, PA and Lycoming College for the Rennie Rodarmel Allstate Invitational starting at 9:00 a.m.
