WILKES-BARRE, PA. (October 10, 2026) -- The King's College men's soccer team earned its first MAC Freedom victory since 2024 with a commanding 3-0 shutout of FDU-Florham on Saturday afternoon at Betzler Field and McCarthy Stadium. The Monarchs improve to 4-5-4 overall, while the Devils fall to 4-3-4. The three-goal margin marks King's largest victory by goal differential this season.
King's wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as
Santiago Javadpour found the back of the net in the eighth minute off an assist from
Joaquin Cedillo to give the Monarchs a 1-0 advantage. Cedillo connected with
Jackson Nuttall for the second goal of the afternoon in the 35th minute, doubling the lead before halftime.
Anthony Ramirez added an insurance goal in the 62nd minute to cap the scoring and secure the 3-0 victory. Javadpour, Nuttall, and Ramirez each recorded their third goals of the season, creating a three-way tie for the team lead.
Cedillo assisted on both of King's first half goals, becoming the first Monarch to record two assists in the same game in at least the last couple of seasons. Defensively,
Ben Van Valkenburg turned aside eight shots to earn his second shutout of the season while matching his season high in saves. Despite FDU-Florham putting eight shots on target, the Monarchs held firm to preserve the clean sheet.
King's outshot FDU-Florham 25-15 and held a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks, controlling the attacking opportunities throughout the contest. The victory gives head coach Raynor his first conference win since 2024 and provides the Monarchs with a significant result as they continue MAC Freedom play.
The Monarchs return to Betzler Field and McCarthy Stadium on Tuesday night to host Lebanon Valley College.
