Monard Records Nine Saves as King's Women's Soccer Falls 1-0 To Lebanon Valley

WILKES-BARRE, PA. (October 14, 2026) -- The King's College women's soccer team fell to Lebanon Valley College, 1-0, on Wednesday evening at Betzler Field and McCarthy Stadium, as the Monarchs dropped to 2-9-2 overall on the season.

King's goalkeeper Courtney Monard turned in another strong performance between the posts, recording nine saves on 19 shots faced. Monard came up with several key stops throughout the contest, including multiple difficult attempts from close range, to keep the Monarchs within striking distance against a Lebanon Valley attack that put 10 shots on target.

The Monarchs had opportunities of their own in the first half, with their best chance coming in the 24th minute when Madison Jellema fired a shot on target that was saved by the Dutchmen goalkeeper. King's also recorded attempts from Mackenzie Huffer, Mackenzie Seeley and Maya Parker as the teams battled through a scoreless opening 37 minutes.

Lebanon Valley broke through in the 38th minute, as a shot found the upper-left corner of the net to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage. Monard continued to make important saves before and after the goal, including a stop on a dangerous attempt in the 43rd minute to keep the deficit at one heading into halftime.

King's looked to find an equalizer in the second half but struggled to generate offensive opportunities, recording just two shots after the break. Seeley sent an attempt wide in the 56th minute before Victoria Hanna put a shot on target in the 84th minute, which was turned away by the Dutchmen goalkeeper. The Monarchs continued to search for a late breakthrough, but Lebanon Valley held on for the 1-0 victory.

Lebanon Valley finished with a 19-7 advantage in shots, including a 10-2 edge in shots on goal. Monard's nine saves helped keep the Monarchs in the contest, while the King's defense worked to limit the visitors to a single goal.

With the loss, King's continues its search for its first MAC Freedom victory of the season. The Monarchs return to action on Saturday, October 17, traveling to Center Valley, Pa., to take on DeSales University for a noon kickoff.
