Women's Soccer Earns Senior Night Draw Behind Monard's Nine Saves Against Marywood

WILKES-BARRE, PA. (October 24, 2026) -- The King's College women's soccer team battled Marywood University to a scoreless draw on Saturday night at Betzler Field on Senior Night. The Monarchs honored seven seniors before kickoff before turning their attention to the Pacers. King's moves to 2-11-3 on the season, while Marywood moves to 10-4-2.

Marywood applied pressure throughout the opening half, generating several scoring opportunities, but the Monarchs' defense stood firm. The King's back line blocked multiple attempts, while the Monarchs looked to create opportunities of their own. Karissa Coleman and Olivia Bauer recorded first-half attempts, but the contest remained scoreless at the break.

The Pacers continued to threaten after halftime, forcing the Monarchs to remain organized defensively. King's goalkeeper Courtney Monard came up with several important saves, including stops on multiple attempts from close range, to keep Marywood off the scoreboard. The Monarchs' defense also recorded key blocks to prevent the Pacers from finding the breakthrough.

King's looked to find a late winner, with Madison Jellema recording two shots on target in the second half and Sarah Mizenko adding an attempt in the 84th minute. Jellema's efforts forced saves from the Marywood goalkeeper, but the Monarchs were unable to find the back of the net.

Monard finished with nine saves to earn her eighth career shutout, helping the Monarchs secure the draw. Marywood finished with a 24-6 advantage in shots and a 13-1 edge in corner kicks, but King's defensive effort ensured the Pacers could not capitalize. The scoreless result marked the Monarchs' third 0-0 draw in their last four home games this season.

King's returns to action on Wednesday, October 28, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. as the Monarchs continue their 2026 campaign.
