DALLAS, PA (February 11, 2026)— The King's College men's basketball team dropped a MAC Freedom contest to Misericordia University in an overtime thriller on Wednesday night by a score of 90-88. The loss is the third by one possession in the last four games as the Monarchs fall to 5-17 overall and 2-9 in conference play while the Cougars improve to 15-7 overall and 7-4 in the MAC Freedom.
The Monarchs came out of the gates firing from beyond the arc, knocking down three of their first five attempts, including two from
Devin Kimmick to take an 11-9 lead over the Cougars heading into the first media timeout at 15:34.
As Misericordia briefly grabbed the lead at the 12:13 mark, King's continued to work the ball to
Cole Walker and
Ben Rodner-Tims in favorable spots. The duo combined for 14 points over the opening 13 minutes, helping the Monarchs regain control and build a 27-23 advantage with just under seven minutes remaining in the first half.
The Cougars battled back to take the lead by a score of 39-37 with a little over a minute left in the half, but King's kept on finding answers on the offensive end. A coast-to-coast drive and score from Kimmick at the buzzer knotted the game at 41 headed into halftime.
The Monarchs shot 42% from three in the opening stanza, getting a pair of triples from both
Sean Forrest and Kimmick, while four players hovered near double figures in the half. Rodner-Tims led the way with nine points, Forrest and Kimmick added eight apiece, and
Cole Walker chipped in seven.
Misericordia opened the second half with a 15-6 run, creating a 56-47 advantage at the 13:40 mark. King's cut into the Cougars lead with seven points in four possessions from
Jaden Hall off the bench to bring the deficit to four with 7:30 remaining.
The Monarchs kept hustling, forcing tough shots and a turnover in the midst of a 10-1 run with threes from Rodner-Tims and
Matt Christian to put King's up 72-67 at the 4:02 mark. Another Rodner-Tims triple put the junior over 20 points for the contest and gave the Monarchs their biggest lead of the game at 75-67 with three minutes to go.
Misericordia answered with a 12-4 run over the final 2:31 to tie the game at 79-79 with six seconds left. A missed layup at the buzzer from the Monarchs sent the contest to overtime.
The Cougars struck first in overtime, knocking down a triple on the opening possession. Rodner-Tims answered with a layup to cut the deficit to one, but Misericordia responded with points on back-to-back trips to push the lead to five. A three from Christian made it 86-84 with just over two minutes remaining, and
Jaden Hall followed with a pair of free throws to knot the score at 86-86 with 1:36 left.
After Misericordia converted on a pair of free throws to regain the lead, Rodner-Tims answered once again, tying the game at 88 apiece with a tough contested layup. On the ensuing possession, Misericordia drew a foul after an offensive rebound and hit both shots at the charity stripe with just two seconds remaining. The Monarchs were unable to find the equalizer as the Cougars held on for the narrow 90-88 win in overtime.
Ben Rodner-Tims led all scorers with 27 points on 11-of-19 shooting, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, while adding seven rebounds and two steals.
Devin Kimmick chipped in 13 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.
Jaden Hall added 12 points, six rebounds, and two steals.
Sean Forrest rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points and eight boards.
The Monarchs return to McGrane Gymnasium on Saturday, February 14 to celebrate Senior Day prior to their matchup with Delaware Valley set for a 3:00 p.m. tipoff.
