WILKES-BARRE, PA (February 11, 2026) — The King's College women's basketball team suffered an 80–60 loss to Misericordia University on Tuesday night in a MAC Freedom matchup inside McGrane Gymnasium. The Monarchs were outscored in every quarter except the third, as the Cougars built an early lead and maintained control throughout the contest.
Misericordia set the tone early, opening the game on an 8–0 run and holding King's to just eight points in the first quarter. The Cougars shot 62.5 percent from the field in the opening frame and carried a 22–8 advantage into the second quarter.
The Cougars continued to extend their lead in the second period, scoring 26 points while forcing turnovers and capitalizing in transition. King's generated better offensive looks but struggled to keep pace as Misericordia entered halftime with a 48–21 lead.
The Monarchs came out of the break with their best stretch of the night, outscoring the Cougars 19–11 in the third quarter. King's shot 50 percent from the field in the frame, highlighted by three three-pointers, and cut into the deficit behind strong play from Lauren Casey and Cadie Lewis.
King's continued to battle in the fourth quarter, scoring 20 points and playing more aggressively on both ends of the floor. Despite the improved effort, Misericordia responded with timely baskets and free throws down the stretch to hold off the Monarchs and secure the 80–60 victory.
Lauren Casey led King's with 18 points and five rebounds, while Cadie Lewis finished with 11 points, six rebounds, eight assists, and a steal in an all-around performance. Gianna Dickson added 10 points, including two three-pointers, and Layla Orth matched her season-high with eight points off the bench. Claire Aufiero contributed six rebounds and four points in the effort.
As a team, King's shot 38.6 percent from the field and 25.0 percent from three-point range, while Misericordia finished at 49.2 percent shooting. Turnovers proved costly for the Monarchs, as the Cougars scored 19 points off turnovers and held advantages in fast-break points and points in the paint.
Despite the loss, the Monarchs showed resilience in the second half, particularly in the third quarter, and will look to build on that momentum as they continue MAC Freedom play when they host Delaware Valley for Senior Day on Saturday, February 14 at 1:00 PM
