WILKES-BARRE, PA (February 12, 2026)-- The King's College wrestling team suffered a 47-3 setback to Stevens Institute of Technology in a home dual on Wednesday evening in McGrane Gymnasium. Competing with a short-handed lineup due to injury and illness, the Monarchs fall to 8-9 overall, while the Ducks even their record at 9-9 on the season.
Following a forfeit at 125,
Sid O'Donnell was narrowly edged out at 133 lbs. by Brendan Schuler in an 8-5 decision that Schuler won in sudden victory.
After an exciting first period at 141 that saw each wrestler pick up two takedowns,
Angel Avalos suffered a takedown in the third and could not overcome the deficit as he fell to Gabriel Hargrove by fall with 26 seconds to spare in the bout.
At 149, Chrisitan Borges faced a tough task, wrestling up two weight classes to take on Justin Ciliotta. The first year fell by technical fall by a score of 16-1 at 2:40 in the first period.
The 157 lb. bout featured scoring from both wrestlers, including a near fall in the early going. Michael O'Connor of Stevens came away with the win by fall in the second period over
Sean Hazlett to put Stevens up 26-0.
Jordan Bentley competed for King's in the bout at 165 lbs., dropping his matchup by fall to Bohdi Mccormack at 1:56 in the first round.
At 174,
Alex Ballantyne utilized a takedown in the first and second with a reversal in the third to propel the senior to an 12-6 decision win to give King's three points and their first win of the evening.
Following a forfeit at 184 lbs.,
Josh Brown suffered a loss by fall to Cole Grenier in the first period. In the final bout of the evening at 285,
Sam Moffett hung tough in an 10-3 decision loss to Noah Berlin-Langston.
The Monarchs return to the mat in two weeks on February 27, as King's wrestling competes at the NCAA Region III Championships, hosted by TCNJ in Ewing, NJ with a 10:00 a.m. start.
