PITTSTON, PA (February 14, 2026) -- The King's College women's ice hockey team wrapped up their 2025-26 home slate of contests with a 10-1 defeat against Arcadia, Friday afternoon at the Revolution Ice Centre. The Monarchs stand at 1-23-0 overall and 1-19-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC). The Knights improve to 16-6-2 on the season and 14-5-1 in conference play.
Arcadia tilted the ice early in the first frame, converting off consecutive faceoff wins and striking 17 seconds into the period to make it 1-0. King's answered with its first push moments later when
Jerrett Tietz fired wide, and goaltender
Will McPherson steadied the group with multiple saves during the next shift. The Monarchs dug in on the penalty kill midway through the period - McPherson turned aside three looks in quick order - but the visitors capitalized on the advantage to double the lead.
King's generated its best first‑period sequence off consecutive draws won by
Maddie Vaughan, springing a couple of attempts from
Abby Barlocker that were blocked and saved. On the other side, the Monarchs piled up blocks from Vaughan and Victoria Fleury‑Wright to break up point shots and slot entries.
Despite the defensive effort, the visitors added three more before the intermission to take a 5-0 lead after one. McPherson closed the frame with 19 saves while
Hayley Packer added one after taking over the goaltending duties late in the period.
The middle frame opened with a tighter defensive structure in front of Packer. King's survived a tripping minor early as
Eva Goner and Vaughan stepped into lanes and Packer handled two clean looks. At even strength, the Monarchs pieced together a run of zone time with Vaughan and
Alexis Jones each forcing a save before the visitors pushed the margin again near the middle of the period.
King's answered with its most consistent pressure of the day across back‑to‑back power plays. After a body‑checking minor, Barlocker and Vaughan put pucks on frame and the top unit controlled entries off set‑faceoff wins.
With under a minute left in the period and on another advantage, the Monarchs finally broke through when
Sammi Stead finished a late sequence at the net front after a beautiful centering pass through traffic by
Amanda Sokol. Sokol and Vaughan assisted on Stead's fourth of the season to pull one back and make it 7-1 heading to the break. The power play marker also put Stead in a tie with Barlocker for the team scoring lead.
The third period began with the visitors stringing together the first three shots, all handled by Packer. King's leaned on the back end again as Goner and
Brenna Munn recorded additional blocks. The Monarchs turned those stops into quick counters as Tietz and Stead produced attempts during a burst of offensive momentum. The visitors, however, answered with two even‑strength goals in less than a minute to stretch the margin.
Inside the final three minutes, King's earned another power play and established possession off a clean draw, but a turnover high in the zone led to a shorthanded strike the other way.
Stead provided the King's goal on the power play, with Sokol and Vaughan collecting the assists. Barlocker led the Monarchs with three shots, while Vaughan and
Emma Heinrich added two apiece as King's finished with 11 shots on goal. In the circle, King's won 21 faceoffs, paced by Vaughan's 11 victories.
Defensively, the Monarchs totaled 12 blocked shots, led by Goner's four. Fleury‑Wright followed with three. In goal, McPherson made 19 saves in the first, and Packer stopped 23 more over the final two periods and change.
King's closes out the 2025-26 campaign next Friday, traveling to the IceWorks Skating Complex to battle Neumann University. Puck drop against the Knights is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
