Ava Butcher Breaks Two School Records for Women's Indoor T&F at Marc Deneault Invite

ITHACA, NY (February 21, 2026) – The King's College women's track and field team competed at the Marc Deneault Memorial Invitational on Saturday, as the Monarchs had strong performances against DI, DII, and DIII competition, including another pair of school records.

On the field, Brandy Varner claimed fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 16.56m, while teammate Caitlin Kirk earned eighth at 14.83m. In the shot put, Varner finished fourth overall at 13.20m while Nayeli Moliere placed 18th with a toss of 10.40m.

Soyer DeLucy posted a 13th place finish in the long jump at 4.86m, while Abby Thompson and Dani Rimsky both tied for 12th in the high jump at 1.42m.

On the track, Ali Butcher ran a time of 8.25 to claim fourth in her heat and 19th overall in the 60-meter dash. Erin McLean finished fifth in her heat and 33rd overall at 8.66, and Sophia Hahn placed sixth in her heat and 36th overall at 9.15.

Ava Butcher broke her own school record in the indoor 400-meter dash for the third time this season, running a time of 59.99 and placing fourth. Her performance was .82 seconds faster than her original. Sarah Hartzell crossed the line in 1:06.70 to receive 26th, while Samantha Adams placed 30th at 1:08.55.

Ava Butcher capped off an impressive day in the 200-meter dash, finishing second in her heat and 18th overall while setting her second school record of the day with a time of 26.95 seconds, besting the previous record by four hundredths of a second. Ali Butcher got fourth in her heat and 26th overall at 27.37, while placed fifth in her heat and 39th overall at 29.15.

In the 800-meters, Kat Smith finished 26th overall with a time of 2:36.14. Cecilia Chipriano and Mara Ryan placed 14th and 16th respectively in the 3,000m, as Chipriano finished with a time of 12:07.52 and Ryan stopped the clock at 12:48.65.

The King's College track and field team returns to action Friday, February 27 at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships hosted by Alvernia University at 12:00 p.m.
