Women's Indoor T&F Marks Best Finish in Program History at MAC Championships

READING, PA (February 28, 2026) – The King's College women's indoor track and field team returned to action Saturday for day two of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships at the Tom and Helen Flynn Complex, hosted by Alvernia University. The Monarchs finished fourth overall with 67 points, the highest team placement in program history, highlighted by multiple podium finishes, two school records, and a standout performance from the Field Athlete of the Year.

In the women's shot put, Brandy Varner claimed gold with a toss of 13.65 meters, marking her second field event victory at the MAC Championships. In her four years competing in the event, Varner had previously earned bronze and silver, making this her first indoor conference championship title in the shot put. She was also named the Middle Atlantic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Year after winning both the weight throw and shot put.

Nayelie Moliere posted a seventh-place podium finish in the shot put at 11.05m while teammate Caitlin Kirk earned ninth with a throw of 10.74m, just missing the podium by 19 meters.

In the triple jump, Soyer Delucy finished 12th with a leap of 9.77m. Abby Thompson and Avery Kosloski tied for sixth as both athletes recorded a top mark of 1.47m in the high jump.

In the women's indoor pentathlon, Dani Rimsky finished ninth in the 60m hurdles at 11.56, third in the high jump at 1.48m, sixth in the shot put with a throw of 7.53m, and eighth in the long jump at 4.16m. In Rimsky's last event of the pentathlon, she ran a time of 3:03.81 to reach for eighth in the 800 meter run. She secured the podium with a seventh-place finish by recording 2,092 points.

On the track, Ava Butcher broke her own school record in the 400-meter dash for the third time this season, finishing in 58.87 to claim the silver medal and improve her previous best by 1.12 seconds. Kat Smith also reached the podium, placing sixth with a personal best of 1:01.36, matching the improvement of 1.12 seconds over her previous time.

In the 200-meter dash, Ali butcher crossed the line in 27.18, making the podium in eighth place and finishing third overall in her heat.

The group of Samantha Adams, Cecilia Chipriano, Mara Ryan, and Sarah Hartzell earned 10th in the 4 x 800 meter relay at 11:05.75.

The Monarch's ended the day by claiming silver and breaking the school record in the 4 x 400 meter relay. The quartet of Ali Butcher, Hartzell, Smith, and Ava Butcher ran a time of 4:10.45, 9.60 seconds faster than the previous standard held by the same group.

King's returns to action at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Championships on Friday, March 6, at The Nike Track & Field Center at the Armory in New York, NY with the start time set for 10:00 a.m.
