Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Second-Half Surge Falls Short for Men’s Basketball Against Stevens

WILKES-BARRE,PA(February 4, 2026)—The King's College basketball team fell in MAC Freedom action in McGrane Gymnasium to Stevens Institute of Technology by a score of 93-89 on Wednesday night. The loss drops the Monarchs to 5-15 overall on the season and 2-7 in MAC Freedom play while the ducks improve to 13-7 overall and 7-2 in conference.

The opening ten minutes featured steady back‑and‑forth scoring, with the Monarchs trailing by four at the 10:31 mark. King's found its rhythm behind a pair of Sean Forrest threes, second‑chance points from Devin Kimmick, and buckets from Cole Walker and Ben Rodner‑Tims.

The Ducks stretched their advantage to double figures later the first half as King's struggled to slow Stevens' shooting as the Ducks shot 81.5% from the field in the first. Rodner‑Tims continued to keep King's within striking distance, scoring inside and from the mid‑range, while Ray Gooley buried multiple threes to slow Stevens' momentum and trim the deficit to six with 6:34 left in the half.

Despite King's grabbing 11 offensive rebounds in the first half, Stevens continued to match the Monarchs shot for shot and ultimately carried a 55–41 lead into the break.

King's came out aggressive in the second half, leaning on strong defense and decisive shooting to chip away at the deficit. The Monarchs sparked a 10-4 run to open the half with a Jaden Hall pull-up jumper bringing King's within single digits at the 16:41 mark.

Both teams continued to go basket for basket as the Ducks retook a double-digit lead at the 9:00 mark. A pair of threes from Matt Christian and Hall on consecutive possessions fueled a 12-6 run that saw the Monarchs down just six points with just under six minutes to play.

The Monarchs continued to battle down the stretch, pulling within four at 88-84 in the final two minutes behind clutch baskets from Rodner-Tims and Cole Walker. King's forced multiple stops and got the scores they needed, but Stevens answered each push with timely buckets and clutch free throws to hold off the comeback attempt and secure the 93–89 win.

Rodner‑Tims led all scorers with a game‑high 29 points on an efficient 13‑of‑16 shooting performance, matching his career best, while also tying his career high with nine rebounds to go along with three assists and three steals. Gooley followed with 14 points, knocking down four three-pointers, while Hall chipped in 11 points off the bench. Kimmick nearly recorded a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds, and Walker added nine points and five boards.

King's men's basketball returns to action on Saturday as the Monarchs travel to face Lebanon Valley in Annville, PA for a 2:00 p.m. tipoff with the Flying Dutchmen.
