COLLEGEVILLE, PA (February 7, 2026) – The King's College women's track and field team competed at the Frank Colden Invitational hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday afternoon, breaking three school records in the process in what turned out to be a monumental day for the Monarchs. The team set personal, seasonal, and school record breaking performances at the Floy Lewis Baker Center.
In the field events,
Brandy Varner kicked off the day in the weight throw and broke her own previous school record from last week at the Nazareth Challenge Cup by a marginal 1.35 meters. Varner placed first out of 37 throwers with a toss of 17.37m.
Caitlin Kirk finished in second at 15.41 and
Katey Shoemaker would claim sixth by posting a throw of 14.14m.
Varner continued her dominance by winning her second event of the day, as she threw 12.57m in the shot put.
Avery Kosloski placed sixth while teammate Abby Thompsom finished tenth in the high jump at 1.45m and 1.40m respectively. In the long jump,
Soyer DeLucy placed tenth with a leap of 4.69m,
McKenzie Bannon got 14th at 4.47m, Thompson earned 15th at 4.43m, and
Dani Rimsky had a jump of 4.05m to receive 18th.
In the track events,
Ali Butcher earned first in her heart with a qualifying time of 8.37 in the 60-meter prelims, as her performance was additionally the eighth best time out of 52 sprinters. She finished seventh overall in the 60-meter dash finals with an even better time of 8.30.
Erin McLean placed second in her heat and 28th overall by crossing the line in 8.76.
Ava Butcher won the 400-meter dash at 1:00.23, breaking her own school record of 1:00.81 last week at the Nazareth Challenge Cup, while teammate
Samantha Adams placed 18th at 1:09.78. In the 800-meter run,
Kat Smith claimed 13th in 2:35.61,
Sarah Hartzell ran a time of 2:41.86 to earn 19th, and Rimsky stopped the clock at 3:08.8 to receive 39th.
Ava and
Ali Butcher kept the pace on their strong outings by winning their heats in the 200-meter dash as Ava ran a season best time of 27.28 to obtain second, while Ali sprinted a personal best time 27.71 to earn fifth in the 52 sprinter field.
The Monarchs ended the day with a victory in the 4x400 meter relay, as the squad of
Ali Butcher, Hartzell, Smith, and
Ava Butcher ran a school record breaking time of 4:17.15.
King's returns to the track next Friday, February 13 as the Monarchs head to Boston, MA for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.
